Meet and greet the horses during their morning feeding ritual. There are 5 Full-size Horses, 4 Mini Horses, and 2 Jerusalem Donkeys.

Plan a picnic with those special someones. The staff is happy to provide a ground quilt and prepare goodies for your experience.

Hike the fields and mountains. Mountain Quest is situated on a 450 acre farm, with 150 acres of flatland and 300 acres of rolling mountains. The trails can be steep, and are not for the faint of heart!  But the views are incredible ! A trail map is available upon request.  Or just set out to roam and lose yourself.

Read a book. Have fun scanning the more than 27,000 volumes that are part of the Mountain Quest Library, and when you find one you want to explore, curl up with a blanket on one of the leather couches and enjoy! 

Night Sky

Experience the night photography phenomenon of the Myst. Use a simple automated camera or your cell phone with flash, and capture the amazing energies that surround us in the night sky.

MARLINTON is the county seat of Pocahontas County, offering the small town feel we all love, with multiple dining options, a sporting goods store, grocery store, antiques and much more. Don't forget to check the schedule for the Pocahontas County Opera House; throughout their season you can catch a concert, play and/or movies.

Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, which is located only 25 miles from the farm, offers some of the best skiing in the east. Not only great in the winter, Snowshoe also offers great mountain biking, golfing, hiking and some great shopping! Ski season comes with the snow.

Greenbrier Rver Trail is 78 miles of trail that run alongside the Greenbrier River, and with only a 1% grade it is easy for any level of hiker.

GREENBANK is home to the Greenbank Radio Telescope (a/k/a National Radio Astronomy Observatory). The Oservatory designed, built and operates one of the world's most sophisticated and advanced radio telescopes. Guests can visit the newly completed Science Center and discover the world's largest fully maneuverable radio telescope. The hands-on museum and a gift shop full of science experiments delight children of all ages.

CASS Scenic Railroad State Park is home to the world's largest fleet of geared Shay locomotives. Six Shays, one Heisler and one climax reside there. Train rides to Bald Knob and Whittaker Station run from May through October, and the Elf Limited operates weekends from November 10 to December 10.

Don't forget to visit the town of Hillsboro. This is the birthplace of Pearl S. Buck (author of The Good Earth). You can also visit the site of the Droop Mountain Battle. This state park has a museum, picnic areas and a lookout tower.

Take a drive along the Highland Scenic Highway, which takes you through the Monongahela National Forest. This highway extends 43 miles from Richwood to S. Route 219 and is the highest average elevation road east of the Mississippi. With stops at the Falls of Hills Creek, Cranberry Glades and four overlooks, this is a great trip for a picnic.
